Collection: Amino acids

Of the more than 250 amino acids found in nature, only 20 are important for the human organism and are involved in the formation of proteins. Eight of these 20 amino acids cannot be produced by the body itself. They are called essential amino acids and must be supplied with food.

An adequate supply of proteins (and therefore amino acids) is important because many cells and tissues in our body are constantly renewing themselves. Growth is not possible without a constant supply of proteins.

Babies, children, pregnant women, athletes and elderly people in particular, have an increased need for amino acids.
