Quercetin Phospholipid

Quercetin is a secondary plant substance belonging to the flavonoid group. As a yellow pigment, quercetin is found primarily in the outer layers and skins of fruits and vegetables. Onions, garlic, grapes, and selected plant species such as Ginkgo biloba and St. John's wort are major sources of quercetin.

Quercetin is characterized by its powerful antioxidant properties and is considered one of the most effective antioxidants among the flavonoids. Through its ability to neutralize free radicals, quercetin offers protection against oxidative stress. Quercetin also plays an important role in the restoration of other important antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E.

Due to its low water solubility, the bioavailability of quercetin from food is low. However, by taking quercetin extracts, the effective dose can be significantly increased. Quercetin from Allvital contains a phospholipid-bound quercetin extract (Quercefit®), which significantly increases water solubility and thus provides excellent bioavailability.
