Astaxanthin Plus

Astaxanthin belongs to the carotenoid family. Carotenoids are secondary plant substances that form a broad class of natural color pigments. Astaxanthin, the red pigment, is produced as a metabolic product of photosynthesis in algae, plankton, and also in some bacteria and fungi, where it protects against oxidative damage caused by light.

Astaxanthin is water- and fat-soluble and has a unique molecular structure. It is able to envelop the entire double-layered cell membrane and protect both the inside and outside of the cell membrane from oxidation. This makes astaxanthin one of nature's most powerful antioxidants.

Astaxanthin Plus contains natural astaxanthin from the blood rain algae ( Haematococcus pluvialis ). The additional algae complex of Afa Klamath algae, Chlorella, and bladderwrack ( Fucus vesiculosus ) is a valuable source of vitamins, (essential) amino acids, enzymes, minerals, trace elements, and essential fatty acids.
