Vitamin B12 is also known as cobalamin and contains various (cobalamin) compounds that perform important functions in our body. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological function. In addition, it contributes to the reduction of fatigue and plays a role in blood formation and cell division.
Folic acid is also known as vitamin B9. Like vitamin B12, folic acid contributes to normal blood formation, normal functioning of the nervous system and normal psychological function. Both vitamins are also essential for a healthy immune system.
Vitamin B12 and folic acid are closely linked in metabolism and interdependent in their function. They should therefore always be supplemented together. Vitamin B12 is also indirectly dependent on biotin (vitamin B7) for its function. For optimal utilisation of vitamin B12, it therefore makes sense to combine these nutrients.
