Vitamin C Complex
Almost all mammals produce their own vitamin C - around 60 mg per kg body weight. At some point during evolution, human beings’ ancestors have lost this ability. Ever since, humans have an “inborn” vitamin C deficiency that has to be compensated for by external sources.
Biochemical function:
The Biochemical function of vitamin C is extensive. Most familiar may be its function as an antioxidant which neutralises so-called free radicals. These aggressive molecules are a result of, among other things, the exposure to chemicals and radiation in today’s world. Vitamin C is essential for the preservation of the connective tissue, collagen and for the health of the bones.
Natural sources:
The highest vitamin C concentration in Natural sources is found in the camu camu fruit and the Acerola cherry. Most vegetables (green cabbage, Brussels sprouts, peppers, broccoli et al.) and fruits contain significant amounts of vitamin C.
Benefits:
- Important and powerful antioxidant
- For a strong immune system
